| Castle Wall's History | ||||
| Castle Wall was founded by
Samantha Cone in 1992 in Florida as an alternative to the Living Chess
Tourament performed at many of the major fairs at the time.
Samantha
went about gathering a group of like minded individuals able to
swing 10lb swords at each other and in November of 1992 they performed
at their first fair. In 1993 Samantha moved to Colorado and started up
Castle Wall once
again. The group performed at the Wyoming Renaissance Fair and a
number of similar events before disbanding in 1998. Although the
Castle Wall perfomance group was no longer togther, it was still alive
as Castlewall Coffee, a coffee house and small performance arena based
in Aurora Colorado. Eventually the coffee house was sold, and in late 2000 Castle Wall Productions was reborn, with lighter swords (6-8 lbs) and a short sword and dagger routine developed by Samantha and her daughter Rayne. Samantha brought together the best and brightest of potential sword fighters and actors to form a tight-knit performance group. The group has performed for schools, the Boulder Shakespeare Festival, the Sioux Falls Renaissance Festival. Castle Wall has also worked with the Celtic community, performing at the Kiowa, Sterling, and Highlands Ranch Celtic Festivals. Castle Wall has a strong community relationship, performing for Magic Moments, The Boy Scouts of America, and other community groups. In 2004 Samantha handed over the reigns of Castle Wall to her Vice President of four years, Eric Medved. She has moved on to other pursuits, feeling confident that her "baby" had grown up and could move on without her. The future of Castle Wall include performances at the OPUS Literary Arts Festival, Colorado Medival Festival, Elizabeth Celtic Faire, Highlands Ranch Scottish Games, FAMR/RRCC Revelry, and the Farmington Renaissance Festival. We wish to thank our many fans that have supported us for over a decade, and we look forward to bringing you more of the great entertainment that Castle Wall Productions has become famous for. |
